Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)

Hastings Health & Living, a 5-star rated long-term care facility, is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Part-Time Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). In this role, you will coordinate information and provide administrative support to our team to ensure our residents and visitors have the best possible experience. Our ideal candidate has excellent organization and customer service skills, along with medical terminology knowledge.


This is a Part-Time position working 20 hours per week. This position requires working every other weekend, but otherwise the schedule is flexible.


Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
Responsibilities:


  • Provide excellent customer service to all residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Work with admissions, room transfers, and discharges.
  • Transcribe physician orders and assist in preparing residents' treatment charts.
  • Schedule resident appointments, transportation, and labs.
  • Prepare and file 21-day admission audits on each resident.
  • Maintain and file resident medical records electronically.
  • Direct phone calls, sort mail, and complete other receptionist duties.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) skills and requirements:


  • Prior experience as a Health Information Coordinator, Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) or Trained Medication Aide (TMA) required.
  • Must be able to pass medical terminology class.
  • Current Minnesota LPN license preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computers, word processing, data processing, and copy machines.
  • Strong leadership, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and team-building skills.
  • Self-starter with a desire to be a part of a team.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
